Meizu recently released its latest flagship series, along with the brand new Flyme 7, that is their custom skin on top of Android. Flyme OS is one of the best Custom UIs in the market, and it has just been improved by a great extent both in design and features. Much information for Global users was not present, as just the Chinese ROMS have been released as of now, so we decided to sum up everything important you need to know about it.
As compared to Flyme 6, the new Flyme 7 brings about 300+ new features, and 1300+ new enhancements. Colors are now more delicate and detailed, animation designs have been improved, using experience is now smoother, and various old features like One Mind, Game Mode, etc. have also been upgraded.
This feature might be the most exciting to some Meizu users, as Flyme has decided to bring Face unlock to all its phones. Meizu has worked together with Shang Tang Technology, Beijing, China, to develop face recognition algorithms, which unlock the phone in just 0.1 seconds.
Meizu is now using AI Beautification in Flyme 7, with their own AI Engine “One Mind”, and ArcSoft. The phone will first identify gender, age, skin type, skin color and 3D facial features through AI, and then beautify the face according to them. It tries to give studio photo-shoot level light effects, making the beauty mode look more professional.
Meizu claims that the new game mode makes gaming experience better. It gives around 16% FPS boost, increases app launch speed by nearly 25%, enhances the power by approximately 50%, and is 23% more battery saving! All the notifications will be displayed in floating bubbles, so that they won’t disturb your gaming experience. You can also disable the mBack button and accidental swipes to open recent apps, and there is an optional floating panda while playing games where you get additional options like screen recorder, etc. Enabling the Game Mode also enables the gaming keyboard, which tries not to spoil the gaming by not covering much part of the screen.
Meizu started working on AI back in 2016, as they knew this will be the next big thing in technology. They have developed their own independent AI engine named “One Mind”. One Mind can automatically pick up user habits according to their scenarios, and provide efficient solutions. It detects when the user works and rests, and automatically repairs the phone when not in use, mostly at night. Moreover, it also identifies the most used apps, and help them open faster by allocating them proper resources. In cooperation with Tencent, they have developed a technology leading AI antivirus engine, that autonomously learns and analyzes virus signatures, intelligently predicts whether the behavior contains unknown viruses, and automatically intercepts unknown viruses.
While taking a group photo, Flyme 7 scans all the faces, and picks the one having good expressions of everyone, so you don’t look bad. Intelligent, isn’t it? For an example, see the image below:
Flyme 7 has an all new night mode to protect your eyes while using the phone at night. Flyme says “The Night Mode in Flyme 7 has improved tremendously with overall eye-protecting solution with multiple dimensions such as time, scenario, colors and texts. It doesn’t ends here, it’s applicable to third-party apps so when you need it, the night mode is there everywhere.” Another great change!
In case you brick your phone, or break the screen, Flyme 7 now has a new feature, which helps keeping the phone’s data safe. You can use Recovery to save bricked phone’s data, or send message from another phone to retrieve a data if you broke the screen .The phone can also be switched to the MTP mode to retrieve the data.
